Below The Line: Fixing The Voting Process With Technology

Project: Below The Line

Below The Line is a site that attempts to encourage voter engagement by
providing them with the information they need to know who they could be
voting for and tools to help them construct their vote in the way they want.

This presentation will go into the motivations for creating the site, the tools
used in both the 2010 and 2013 versions of the site and issues encountered in
both the creation and running of the site.

Benno Rice

Benno has been many things, most recently a freelance Python developer and now a FreeBSD kernel hacker for a large storage vendor. He's also a passionate wonk and follows politics far too closely for his own good.

Benno co-created the Behave testing tool for Python, is a FreeBSD committer and created the Below The Line site for the 2010 election.
