Each presentation slot is 50 minutes, except tutorials which have a double slot of one hour and 40 minutes. It is expected that your talk will go for approximately 40 minutes, with 10 minutes for questions, unless you prefer to take questions during your presentation. For tutorials, it is assumed that questions will be asked during the tutorial rather than at the end. Room monitors will be stationed in each conference room and will help guide you

Under Australia's universal visa system, all visitors to Australia must have a valid
 
visa to travel to and enter Australia (other than New Zealand passport holders who
 
will normally be granted a Special Category visa on arrival, provided they meet
 
health and character requirements; and permanent residents of Norfolk Island who
 
may be granted a Permanent Resident of Norfolk Island visa on arrival).
 
 
There are many visa options available to people wishing to visit Australia. Your

Yes, if you arrive on 31st January at Melbourne Tullamarine (MEL) or Avalon (AVV).

Registration information

Refer to the main conference registration page for information on pricing, ticket types and entitlements.

Registration is a three-step process;

  1. Create a new account on linux.conf.au and validate your email
  2. Make your registration selection
  3. Ensure you pay your invoice

Registrations are not valid until paid. We can accept most major credit cards.

What events are on at linux.conf.au?

What to bring to linux.conf.au

  • Laptop, phone, camera, chargers etc - most people bring a laptop, tablet etc. Free WiFi is available. Many Delegates enjoy hacking, coding and developing together at linux.conf.au.
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses and a water bottle - Geelong, although coastal, can have high summer temperatures. The conference venue is a block from the beach, feel free to bring swimming gear.
  • Clothes and toiletries - the conference venue is a block away from a Westfield shopping centre, so you'll be OK if you forget anything. Remember to bring any medication you may need.
  • Identification and if international, your passport - for registration purposes, we may need to see identification, and if you're a student, we'll need to see your student card. Geelong has plenty of beer, and in accordance with liquor laws, you may be asked for ID to be served alcohol.
  • Cash or card - you will likely have some incidental expenses during the conference. There's an ATM (Westpac) at the conference venue, and most nearby venues take card.
  • An appetite - Geelong has a magnificent range of eateries and restaurants all within walking distance.
